INTERVENTION TO CITY COUNCIL OPEN homophobia
Il Parlamento Europeo nel testo della risoluzione sull'Omofobia del 18/1/2006 considers homophobia "a fear and aversion of homosexuality and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people based on prejudice and similar to racism, xenophobia, antisemitism and sexism", then we clarify what is meant by prejudice: the prejudice is a preconceived opinion, an opinion given a priori, without true foundations that lead us to develop our own. In the case of homophobia prejudice is a feeling of isolation and hostility toward a person living in a state other than the majority population. The injury is spread when an interpretation of the complex and multifaceted reality leads us to our security through prservare process simplification.
Between 2006 and 2007 were 42 recorded crimes against gay and transgender people, specifically: 11 murders, 23 rape, eight acts of vandalism; last summer have been frequent incidents of discrimination, it is often very serious episodes of violence against other human beings, just because homosexuals, violence motivated only by hatred of a different state, then by racism.
The European Parliament in various resolutions establishing the principle of non-discrimination on sexual orientation and art. 3 of our Constitution is clear:
"All citizens have equal social dignity and are equal before the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, political opinion, personal and social conditions.
is the duty of the Republic to remove obstacles to economic and social nature which constrain the freedom and equality of citizens, prevent the full development of the human person and the effective participation of all workers in the political, economic and social development of the country. "
E 'departs for these reasons that our minister for equal opportunities, Mara Carfagna, presented the 9/11/2009 the first corporate campaign to raise awareness against homophobia and gender discrimination, investing around two million euro to raise the Italians and make everyone understand that homophobia is a disease from which one can heal.
"no difference" is the name of the campaign implemented by the Minister Carfagna and a public awareness campaign that has proved very useful, it is only by talking that we can break the cultural taboos that we carry from our history, we are in 2010 and we can not nor want to hear about diversity, normal, but it is equally true that it is simplistic to approve a document which speaks only to fight homophobia and transphobia, we want a document that allows us to break down all walls violence.
Speaking of homophobia, as I said earlier, is like talking about racism, homophobia, however, because can be regarded as a facet of it, then personally I would not have any difficulty in expressing condemnation of violence against homosexuals, but it is also true that the problem is much broader, about crimes that every day he sees as victims not only homosexuals but ven women, elderly and children ....
I do not consider homosexuals nor trans different and that is why I can not vote on a motion where it is addressed to a single category, because that emphasize a diversity of attitudes towards those who are not different, the fundamental point is to educate respect for all, regardless of sexual habits, so it's just, I think, act as our government is acting with awareness campaigns to encourage reaching a socio-cultural aspect that aims all'euguaglianza people.
I strongly agree with the last part of the motion, we can not talk about cultural diversity, we want to talk to our children a culture of rights and duties to all and for all! I do not think, as I said, homosexuals or cross different, I think they like us, I think they are our people who have the same rights and obligations, and that can not be judged for their sexual habits, but I can not even afford that talk to the younger generation as a culture of diversity, I like my government also wants and how he wants The Minister Carfagna break down this taboo, but we certainly can not overthrow the assumption of different!
