High Quality Tourism in Malta

*

Malta is, in a nutshell, a major focus of Some Contradictions Affecting Several contemporary societies. The former British colony (independent since 1964) Hosts More Than 400,000 people on a tiny area of \u200b\u200b316 square kms yielding a density above 1300 Inhabitants per square km, the seventh Highest in the world. Or Rather the fourth, after Removing from the top of list States,  Macau and Hongkong (now belonging to China) plus Gibraltar (belonging to UK).

Greatly located in the heart of the Mediterranean, Malta is a main mass-tourism destination getting roughly 1.5 million visitors per year, many of them from England.  Besides, foreign investors attracted by a sound and rewarding banking system , have poured their money into the Maltese archipelago and favored real estate growth.  As a result the beautiful island, one time rich in biodiversity and endemic species , has been heavily looted to get room for the building sector expansion. Still the island, a blending of Arabic, Italian and English influences, retains so much character and history to make it worth a travel.

Avoid going there since April till half October and rather visit Malta, together with Gozo, in the late autumn or winter season. In Malta, you will get a glimpse of the fantastic as it had to be landscape if you explore the western coastline: reach Mosta by bus from La Valletta and go on walking westward. Take care of the hunters, a true plague in Malta, and hike from the Golden Bay to Fommir Rih Bay.

Smell the scent of the Mediterranean thyme shrubs, watch the sea squill widespread in the coastal guarigues, pick up wild rocket and carrots, get some almonds and will also find snails on the tree branches as they are fond of the leaves. Thus you've done your healthy meal for free. High quality tourism is fun and cheap also in Malta  whereas mass-tourism is expensive and boring. Mass-individuals need "travel" agencies to be packed in standard and horrible hotels. In such resorts, the mass-individual will encounter plenty of kin types to mirror his/her insignificance. The mass tourist needs high densities to display and satisfy its stupidity.

Between Ghajn Tuffieha- and Gnejna Bay

Oddly LonelyPlanet guide book highly praises the Radisson Blu Resort dominating the Golden Bay in North-Western Malta. This huge as much as awful building is an eyesore scarring the Bay as it can be seen from far away. I bet Carolyn Bain had a great, profitable staying at that Hotel but I wonder whether the LonelyPlanet author has a scrap of environmental awareness !
"Amazingly beautiful" Radisson Blu Resort in Golden Bay

Don't follow LP advice (in this case) and rather stay at Mallia's residence in Mosta. David and Mary promote and practice organic farming in Malta and will be proud to introduce you to the archipelago flora and history.

It is definitely worth spending few days in Gozo which is less densely populated than Malta. Being based in Xlendi , you may easily explore the gorgeous cliffs along the south west coast. Again take care of the hunters, some of them are children, which infest the area shooting the birds. Their stupidity is such that, due to the lack of wildlife, they buy and release pigeons  to have some targets to shoot.
Brainless human  behavior patterns are widespread throughout the world, some of them are recurrent.

Live pigeons on sell for bird addicted Maltese hunters

Hike and find fields generously covered by yellow-flowered wild rocket: it is for free and organic, thus take advantage.  If you are lucky, you may learn about the rocket virtues from some local beauty who likes harvesting the herb.  Also buy a fresh Lampuki   from the fisherman at Piazza San Frangisk in the nice island capital Victoria. Freshly milked sheep milk is available at kind shepherds in Munxar.  Dinner and breakfast should be tasty, healthy and cheap. The rule of thumb is: the more you avoid restaurants the better you eat. This holds everywhere. Moreover, giving your money directly to the producers  you weaken parasitic middlemen in the food distribution chain. From producers to consumers, this is the main recipe to eat well.

Maltese wild rocket gatherer

From Xlendi, climb up towards north-west and head to Dweira along the coastal paths. Once there you will see, in the Bay, the Fungus Rock islet whose flat top hosts the rare Cynomorium Coccineum well known to the Arabs and later to the Maltese Knights Hospitaller for its medicinal properties. Compare it with the quite similar Cynomorium songaricum widely used in Chinese traditional medicine.

These are just a few hints to make you curious about these places.

The crowds of  tourists looking for the all inclusive hotel with swimming pool infest mainly the eastern coast between Bugibba and Sliema. Not to waste time and energy, keep far from that zone also in winter.   If  you want to know more about nature in Malta and don't like going solo then contact the environmentalist Ms Annalise Falzon . She is the right person at the right place.

In the following, I'll come back to the population density issue which troubles so much several parts of the Planet.

Debate Speech at Conference "University, responsibilities and prospects" Instead of blocking

I would like to thank all those who spoke at this conference which I think is a momemnto important to emphasize our presence in the area and our attention to issues related to young people, in particular university, but not only, in fact when it comes to the University of crisis we must not forget that we talk about the failure of a 'whole class, and especially senior managers talk about the crisis that affects all those families who derive their income from the University, which I often instead seems to be forgotten by those political parties who see the university's only source of income.
If we analyze the problem of debt the University is clear that those responsible are to be found in a lobby of people who have distant origins of time, comparable to a cancer that affects the University for years and that, as the final act, led to state of collapse today. Taking a quick history on the situation debt of the University, we realize that the origins are again to be found in anything but prudent management of a left that speaks System Siena University in June 2006 the Board approved a final 2005 far from rosy a sheet with a financial deficit of € 33.8 million and debts of more than 150 million contracts with MPS and the Deposits and loans for investment in structures, the first initiative to counter the heavy financial situation was taken under the Prodi government, June 19, 2006, one of the last major decisions of the then Rector Piero Tosi: given the situation thought it well to expand the plant's organic technical and administrative staff of 262 units, with these and other decisions, the descent became "free fall".
today with what we are? We have a university that is forced to sell his possessions to pull ahead, we have a university that provides its employees with salaries only for a few months, we have a university that is not able to provide students with certainty on the path studies, yet the University of Siena from 2005 to 2009 has received 45 million € more than the other Italian universities. Minister Tremonti visiting Siena, nicknamed "the University of Bengodi" prophetic words!
There 's been in crisis because of the usual mismanagement of public affairs that distinguishes the left, a typical example of a system that slowly gets out of hand and leads to collapse, in short, that system of patronage typical government red of our country!
If we pull the money we realize that nothing has been done in recent times in the good name of the University, which administers the left Municipality, Province and Region, let us not forget, it merely sought to shift the blame to the Government, the only administration center-right would ensure that a university of prestige and certainly functional.
In November 2009 he was presented the bill on university reform, a law not yet in place but clear and radical, which is opposite to the unacceptable shortcomings of the university system:
1.Stop unnecessary proliferation of courses (deleted in the past two years have 469 degree useless and expensive).
2.Chiusura of campuses unnecessary.
3.Concorsi assumptions and "transparent."
4.Fondi more to those who deserve them and less to those who wasted (in 2009 have been awarded a fund worth 525 million and the university were blocked recruitment in universities with the accounts out of place).
Our university would have to change things, studying Law, I found myself in front of course anything but helpful, I am referring for example to the right course of regional, rather than the right of local, let us remember that we are already examining right constitutional, rather than bankruptcy law that is merely part of the course of commercial law, also feature exam for the undergraduate law degree, rather than law and Islam, another course that is nothing but a photocopy of part of the program right Church. At first glance, a novice might ask, what are all these courses, what is in the same course needless to multiply the teaching materials that could deepen the student more interested in private, perhaps even with the support of the professor as a research staff? Still has a purpose, to ensure that desks and chairs to friends and family, yes it is now the University a poltronificio. So one wonders, why the University of Siena goes to the streets to demonstrate? Because the left-wing students demonstrated against the bill Gelmini?
We want a university where merit is rewarded, we do not want to read, as was the case Nov. 14, 2008 in The Economist, one of the most influential magazines in the world, the Italian university system is described as "a corrupt system , inefficient and poorly managed, however, that resists change, requires a change urgent. Five universities in bankruptcy. The whole system collapses. ". We would rather go back in the world rankings at the top, as opposed to what they tell us our political opponents, we want young people prepared and able to deal with the world!
In Siena, in particular, we should invest in the revitalization of the University, the scenario has changed today because we have a 'University, which is no longer what it was, until recently, a university reference to the southern middle class that inscribes its children in that small island was happy that Siena small quiet town in central Italy with a renowned university. Today members decreased visibly, the managerial choices are nothing short of appalling. We need a plan to relaunch in the round that interissi the training plan, but also the lives and social relations with the Siena students who invest in their future. The revival of one of the oldest Italian universities, a relatively small institution that has substantial external resources, must affect their teaching, with a return to study courses focused and quality. In its annual ranking published by Il Sole 24 Ore, Siena occupies the 38th position among the state universities, we must return to the top, go back to being a university on a human scale that gives the possibility of a culture and an all-round degree of prestige. We must therefore repudiate the trend that will take straight to the creation of a diplomificio, where the quality of service and education takes a back seat and where the only result is to graduate to more people but to encourage the registration, even students with low motivation and without the slightest interest in the future for new graduates and the skills needed requirements to enter the world of work.
I hope, therefore, that the system changes, you can go back to talking to Siena in the collective imagination as a small-town university, quiet town in central Italy where the bourgeoisie of the South to enroll their children because it is safe to find a city and a 'University on a human scale and at least qualitatively to the top of national rankings.

THE STATION AND 'NEED TO BLOCK THE COLLAPSE!

In our university, as in many other universities del Paese, gli studenti di sinistra hanno manifestato e stanno manifestando, proprio in queste ore, contro il ddl Gelmini.
E' paradossale che si manifesti contro un disegno di legge che vuole limitare gli sprechi proprio a Siena; la nostra Università, infatti, è uno degli atenei sull'orlo della bancarotta proprio a causa di una cattiva amministrazione che fino ad oggi ha confuso l'autonomia con l'anarchia, senza pensare a quello a cui si andava incontro; l'Università di Siena, infatti, lo sanno tutti è sull'orlo del baratro e sono questi gli eventi che devono farci riflettere, in una situazione come la nostra se non vengono prese misure drastiche e a volte anche coraggiose, le soluzioni non possono esserci, non possiamo pensare to continue to sell our "family silver" as he called the rector Riccaboni to our conference that was held last Tuesday in the Hall in the Palace of Aurora Province, and you are holding a 'University, which produces every year just thirty-five million debt, this is not believed to be the best solution, rather we believe that the solution must be sought in a restructuring plan, serious and responsible, perhaps shared with the forces of government and on the basis of their Ddl Gelmini.
In contrast, the fact that support students and leftists our government does not want to take hostage the future of young people, indeed want to train young people in full and responsible Universities and schools are able to train young people who can deal with the world!
protests these days, seem absolutely irresponsible and devoid of all meaning, especially in a city like ours, where so far the resources have been squandered and where if the intervention is not strong and resolute we will be bankrupt in less than no time!
Another point, in our view fundamental, it is often confusing at best, often deliberately, the deficit with the University ddl Gelmini, well it's time for clarity, we can no longer hear that the University if you have this situation is the fault of the government, indeed the Government is working in the opposite direction, it working hard and are taking an interest in order to give a positive change in this situation, but no one can claim that it comes from Rome and solve, autonomy is a beautiful word that everyone likes, but also brings many responsibilities and these responsibilities Siena is just that to take on this burden, creating the prospect of downsizing and consolidation that must begin by the University itself.
We accept the protests, but we do not accept the indiscriminate and irresponsible protests that are made just because it is mandatory stand against the government.
Just recently in the UK students are protesting against increases in taxes, in Italy, paradoxically, a protest against government who does not want to get their hands into the pockets of citizens and who wants to save the system from total collapse is now rotten!

Breakfast at the bar Obese and Food Quality

* A 'Inquiry into the station bar published four years ago by Altroconsumo were remembered as more than 10 million Italians are "breakfast bar" at least twice a week. L 'is a slang expression precisely because it expresses a' habit of mass (just passing the bar in any country to score so many pins on two feet with his hands being taken over cappuccino and croissant ... lively they say!).

A 'investigation other cereals for breakfast published 2 years ago by the same group of consumers revealed as the stuff produced by multinational food was a hit of sugar, fat and salt. Whether we have breakfast at home or at the bar, the Italians start their day gulping down junk. So much so that Italian children are the most obese in Europe and both adults and children are often constipated, diabetes (3 million), allergic to many things ... do not digest, and so have a stomach ache . It 's funny the people complaining.

the light of facts known and documented by 'World Health Organization , it is ridiculous the widespread belief that "Italians eat well." The absence of a culture of breakfast is a national macro-defect that leaps to the eyes of any traveler that is cultured in Italy.
Then just go into any supermarket to see what puts the mass in the cart and then into the stomach. Therefore also collapses the myth of Italian cuisine. It occurs sporadically but there is not everyday life.

Supermarkets, dominated by large retail chains are about the same all over the world and taste of the mass must be as uniform as possible just to meet the business needs of Masters of Food . Obesity is one of the great plagues contemporary all the more alarming in countries of the Americas where food distribution is strictly monopolized.

back to us, not enough then the tens of thousands of traditional regional Italian recipes to change the state of things. Fact:

a) these recipes are mostly too developed over the centuries precisely because the housewives, husbands and relatives wishing to show their creativity, cooked for hours and more cooked (baked) destroyed most of the ingredients start .. ... to make a good sauce takes hours, "said the grandmothers ... patients at the end ... in fact they ate all heavy stuff, overcooked!

b) In addition, housekeepers, cooks and chefs are often ignorant of past and present, therefore, exceed the use of fats and sugars. Even mix different proteins, many traditional dishes, lasagna and casseroles, appetizers, mixed meats and cheeses and Florentine with beans are tasty garbage from a nutritional point of view.

So the appeal to tradition is of little value.

E 'common ground that in Italy there is a range of food variety and extraordinary quality. This production, however, continues to be consumed by a few also because it happens that those products have a price. It is often not justified, but the fanatics of the bio are attracted by what coast is very well pay status.

Increase luckily the markets in which producers sell directly their products but in the meantime continue to spread gleaming shopping centers, new centers of sociability, along with the outlets, are the true temples of mass stupidity.

Countless Italian food products marked with a few brand name it is DOC, DOP or whatever but I just say these things .... the buffalo mozzarella is a PDO quality of long standing. But if the buffaloes graze in fields where the Camorra burning waste or spillage become buffalo mozzarella quality. And the examples could go on .... the famous pizza is made with melted cheese but the cheese is manufactured by unscrupulous companies sometimes .... The quality can be poisonous and therefore often do not recognize the poison on the palate. Ingurgita and acts when it is inside. As already noted
recently, with the production quality designations are also not exempt from the infiltration of genetically modified soya and maize now virtually ubiquitous in the food industry.

Recently I was in Malta to host a courageous family who practice organic farming in a difficult environment quality. They are very knowledgeable and attentive to the relationship between diet and environment. David and Mary have a horse and poultry that are fed with feed purchased in the local consortia. They can not however find a feed with no traces of GM soya ... they gave me the labels of the delicious products they buy. And 'stuff imported from neighboring lands in Malta, made somewhere. Out of respect for their horse, I pointed out that there are other ways to avoid the pitfalls of biotech companies and dealers that sell delicious feed, however, respecting the regulations labeling ... hopefully good.

The Maltese national dish is the Fenek , a rabbit cooked in various ways. Everyone eats in every party and gathering. Each restaurant offers it and also like the tourist crowds that infest the island. Even the rabbits are allevati in massa e stanno in gabbie in cui vengono nutriti con spazzatura GM.

How To Repair My Leather Vi

Truffle Butter, Parmesan and GM Soya

*

I prefer the wild rocket and thyme, but the tuber is fascinating to me from a botanical point of view. That's why I participated. Around its aroma has created a good business, though it is a blunder, and also because there are so many fessacchiotti happy to pay so much just for a few tens of grams to dress a toast or an egg. Then, after touching the sky with a finger, go back to eating the fries and the usual power-based pasta and meat.

I listened carefully to the nice and friendly food and wine. I feel admiration for these people who can smell the artichokes in oil and one of blueberry wine. I find it extraordinary the amount of adjectives that riescono a sfoderare per descrivere cose in fondo banali.

Also because you do not know the impact.
If the white truffle to taste good we end up ingesting the poison, it seems advisable to give up the tuber and opt for the wild rocket. You save twice and you keep finches. Better, if anything, the black truffle that costs less and can be combined with a healthy oil.

About GM soya, I invite readers, and readers to look at food and wine, below, the beautiful documentary on the history of Monsanto . Who did not already know he also learns what are the PCB. Enjoy.

Do Chickens Get Ringworm

Case and Power ... Comments on Lifestyles Disseminated

* This blog is not been updated for more than four months. The long hiatus is due to the fact that I had much work to do, the summer was full of commitments that have added to my usual activities so much so that I even had to give up to my usual cycling tour in September. This despite my formal conditions are very good and now, just left a nice sauna, go back to compose some thoughts. Also to meet the many readers who, a little disappointed and a little worried in recent weeks I have written.

Several months ago I asked a good friend to help me make a carpenter's job in the restructuring. I had no time or desire to do everything myself, and so, being also need to contribute to a bricklayer, carpenter, introduced me to his friend Nicholas. Nicola told me that he participated in the restoration of the Cathedral of Siena and went to work assisted by his son Enzo, but already the first day I realized that it was two pitchers. They did not know to do their job. Nicola soon threw in the towel and asked her brother Joseph to replace him. The good Joseph (I came as a former foreman of the famous manufacturer Impregilo) intervened helped by the friendly son Michael, but after a decent start, the two remedies outrageous mistakes. Reluctantly I had to liquidate them.

But it would be boring besides pointless exercise. It is often said that "the Italians are creative." I think you are referring to exceptions.
E 'be helpful in relation to the topics covered in this blog, make a few observations based on direct experience accumulated over the years:

1) Italian homes (to limit ourselves to this part of the world but the same considerations apply elsewhere) are generally worthwhile because those who inhabit them, that they design and build that they have no culture of 'living. There are exceptions, but this is the norm.

2) in poorly constructed houses we live badly. A good deal of health problems of Italians from the fact that they live in unhealthy homes, full of poisons and no natural light. Without natural light the brain does not work ergo there must be a correlation between the rate of mass stupidity and quality of places of 'living mass. Many new apartments have bathrooms without windows. I understand that it overlooking the forest is a privilege reserved for few, but I do not understand how one can defecate well in rooms without natural light. It 's a terrible limitation. In return, the houses are full of standard ports, in addition to stealing several square meters otherwise useful, are a symptom of narrow-mindedness.

3) The residential sector accounts for about 30% domestic consumption of electricity gross and about 30% of total energy consumption. The construction and management of houses is the key area that requires drastic action in order to reduce overall energy costs and the load of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere.

Various Nicholas, Joseph and colleagues believe that the cement and construction material is great, if not blocked, puts it anywhere they can. It's worth mentioning that the cement production is a major cause of anthropogenic emissions of CO_2. The cement industry contribution to global production of greenhouse gases is estimated at 5% dunque assai rilevante.

E 'then interesting to note that all these Omoni then and there appear to be very strong after a while may become weak. What these people have in common that make a real slice of Italy?

a) They are all pumped full of drugs, even the very young, at least they were operated ulcer or diabetes. Weigh on the regional and national health care system and therefore also on me. I do not see why I devas pay fixed contributions and savory in this system which, however, does not use ever since my last entry in an Italian pharmacy dates back to 1995 and was by mistake.

b) I'm addicted to cigarettes, they spend a significant fraction of the time Working smoke and throw cigarette butts on the ground, it is right to educate them.

c) They spend several hours of their days, even non-working, sitting in the blazing car. Money they spend for various rivers and burning fuel. Joseph came to visit me one Sunday morning at 12: he got up at six and had already done 700kms in motion, from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Atlantic, with a group of friends. I said with a glint of pride that he was the leader!

d) Do not ever read a book and lead lives based on the boring routine.

e) They feed so horrible ... do not eat breakfast in the morning or, if they do, they swallow biscuits, jam and sweet stuff. There are those who eat biscuits and drinking UHT milk. The bongiorno starts in the morning. At mid-morning their labor productivity falls just ... it's hot start to sweat and complain ... lunch stop working and they swallow oiled pasta, meat and sausages ... at four in the afternoon are exhausted. It is said that "the Italians eat well, follow the Mediterranean diet." That fact does not exist.

f) In the evening, rattling in front of the TV. At 50 years are over.

E 'obvious, it is clear to me for years that the major energy issues of our time as long as they find positive solutions will not change radically the individual lifestyles prevailing in Italy and many parts of the world. Environmental issues are, in this sense, a consequence of the absence of mass culture. I'll be back with concrete examples on this link.
